NCC disqualifies Nigerians below 18 years from getting SIM

The Nigerian Communications Commission has disqualified anyone below the age of 18 from registering and proudly proudly owning a Subscriber Id Module in Nigeria.

In accordance with Half 57 of the Act, the NCC carried out a Public Inquiry on the Registration of Telephone Subscribers Guidelines, alongside the draft SIM Various Pointers and the draft Spectrum Shopping for and promoting Pointers at its head office in Abuja on Tuesday.

NCC’s Authorities Commissioner Stakeholders’ Administration, Mr Adeleke Adewolu, gave the opening touch upon the event.

He talked about, “The public inquiry is an avenue that enables the commission develop and review its regulatory instruments by incorporating the comments and suggestions of industry stakeholders.”

In the middle of the general public inquiry, which was held bodily and practically, key stakeholders, along with MTN, urged the charge to revise the age limit.

MTN requested the charge to make the age limit 14 years and above.

The NCC, nonetheless, insisted on 18 years and above for anyone who needs to private and register a SIM in Nigeria.
